Saturday, August 4th, Noon–4pm, Stinson Beach

Anyone who has ever been on Mexico Mission, from both Life Support and SHPC, including family and friends, is welcome to come out to relax and reunite. Use Stinson’s North parking lot, enter the beach at northernmost entrance, walk to the right and look for our green awning and blue sunshade. Bring a lunch; dogs are allowed, look forward to seeing you there!

As we prepare to embark on our summer Mexico House Building Mission, (Life Support’s 15th year) we would like to assure our family and friends that we are mindful about the health and safety of our team members.

We have certified EMTs (emergency medical technicians) on our team, an emergency plan, and a partnership with Amor, with whom we work when we are in Tijuana. Like Amor, each policy and practice that LifeSupportM.org has in place regarding security and safety is preventative and proactive.

Below is some safety information excerpted from Amor.org:

Amor has always been proactive about safety matters. For the past 32 years, Amor has worked hard to provide the best security and safety for all individuals involved. Amor considers the safety of the groups and Team Members its’ first priority.

News stories about personal safety in the regions that the house building teams serve have made the headlines and may be a source of concern for parents and leaders of future Amor Mission Trip participants.  Because of this, Amor has built a strong presence in Mexico over these past 32 years through excellent relations with the local government, the police, and the communities that are served. Because of these relationships, Amor is equipped to deal with any and all safety issues that might arise.

There are people in need all over the world and we ask that you continue to send good thoughts to the families living throughout the world who are struggling without hope and to our group as we set out to do this important work.

We (Jeff and Leona) have just returned from our spring house building mission to Tijuana, Mexico, where we worked with Amor as volunteer staff and were part of a group of people helping build homes for families.

We wish that this kind of service work would not be needed, but the reality is that there are many families, not only in Mexico, but also all over the world, living in substandard conditions – and who cannot on their own afford to change their living circumstances.

Barnabus 2012 018Barnabus 2012 05004-2012 010Perhaps if the world were organized differently there wouldn’t be a need to go out on mission trips to help people in this way, but until that time we are committed to helping families stay together by building safe, secure homes.
Vendors 009Group PhotozBeautiful HouseWe are grateful to be able to do this work. Thank you to our family, friends, and supporters for encouraging us to live a life of service.

Thank you to all our LifeSupportM.org Mexico Mission Team Members, our families in Mexico, Casa Hogar Sion Orphanage, our Donors, Amor, Camping Pros, Sun Diego Van Rentals, Chevy’s Restaurant in Novato, our Garage Sale Fundraising Volunteers, our COMFY Garden Team, and ALL who helped to create this year’s wonderful Mexico Housebuilding Mission. We built a home for Maria and her family, put a second coat of stucco on for Patricia and Rosa’s family, visited our family from last year, Anna, her children, and her new husband Carlos, and we visited Casa Hogar Sion Orphanage and dropped off a check for $500 that we raised from the Garage Sale in early June. It was a fabulous mission and this truly is “Young People Making Good Things Happen in the World!”

img_0664[1]aOn Wednesday, June 1, 2011, the Novato Fire Foundation, and founding sponsor Circle Bank, hosted the Annual Heroes Among Us Luncheon at the Marin Country Club in Novato. A capacity crowd of 120+ community, business and political leaders helped the Novato Fire Foundation recognize everyday people doing extraordinary accomplishments in the community.

Jeff Davidson and Leona George-Davidson of LifeSupportM.org were there to accept the Award for Extraordinary Humanitarian Efforts for their fifteen years of service of Mexico Mission House Building Missions.

“Thank you to the Novato Fire Foundation for this wonderful award. We are humbled to be in the presence of so many others who have selflessly served the community. To our own team members and donors we extend our thanks and gratitude for your years of support – we could not do any of this work without you!”  Much love and many blessings, Jeff and Leona

This past weekend, Jeff and Leona (and Barney Dog), met up with Sammy Gonzalez, director and member of the founding family of Casa Hogar Sion Orphanage, to deliver donated toys, household supplies, bedding, children’s clothing, shoes, books, diapers, baby gear, and cheer. Sammy’s Niece, Jessica, and his nephew, David, were on hand to help unload all the wonderful supplies. With the cash donations we will be buying a gift certificate to help purchase brand new socks, undergarments, and other personal items to fill the children’s Christmas stockings this year. Thank you to all who donated so generously toward this joyous adventure for the children and staff of Casa Hogar Sion!
